The Boppy Vs. My Breast Friend

Author: Heather Montgomery

Feeding a baby can be confusing, painful, and frustrating – all at once. Luckily, there are a few tools on the market to help you feed your baby. One of the tools is a breastfeeding pillow. Two of the most popular pillows are the “Boppy” and “My Breast Friend.” While they are called breastfeeding pillows, they can be used to formula-feed as well.

Boppy

The Boppy is a U-shaped pillow that fits around your waist to support the baby while feeding. The Boppy can also be used to prop your baby up after feedings, support your baby during floor play, and help your baby learn to sit up.

Pros

The Boppy can be covered in a slipcover, which comes in a wide range of patterns and colors, making your Boppy useful for years to come. The Boppy also has a Miracle Middle that expands to fit most waist sizes, even Dads.

Cons

Some users find the Boppy loses shape or creates a gap between your waist and the pillow. The Boppy can only be used while sitting, and can slide down your tummy while feeding the baby.

My Breast Friend

My Breast Friend is also a U-shaped pillow, but has the added feature of a strap that can secure the pillow to your waist. My Breast Friend can also be used for propping your baby up, and as a support during play.

Pros

My Breast Friend will not slide down your tummy, and can be used while standing up or moving around. It also has pockets to hold a pacifier, nipple shield, or other feeding paraphernalia. My Breast Friend has a back rest for support while feeding. There are also slipcovers to change the look of your pillow.

Cons

My Breast Friend can only expand to fit a 44-inch waist. Some feel that My Breast Friend is large and cumbersome to put on and take off while holding a baby. It also is not as compact as the Boppy, making it hard to store.

While both of the pillows have good and bad points, you may find that you like one better than the other. Perhaps you can borrow one from a friend to find out which pillow is best for you, before making the purchase!
