5 Non-Cake Gender Reveal Ideas
Saturday, September 26th, 2015
Pregnant with my fourth child, I was looking for a fun way to “spice things up” a bit when it came time to finding out the sex of our baby.
Of course, what was forefront on my mind was simply a wish for a healthy baby to check out with all the right bits and pieces during the ultrasound, but I am not past admitting that I was also a teensy bit excited to find out just who would be joining our family. Would it be another girl to join her two older sisters or a playmate for our youngest, a boy who loves tractors and dirt?
In the days leading up to my ultrasound, you could pretty much find me on Pinterest, gathering up ideas to reveal the baby's gender, like …
Forget the frosting, this adorable idea takes the cake in its own right. Cans of carefully disguised silly string await guests on opposite ends of the boy/girl spectrum and then, when the moment is right, spray away! It only makes sense to celebrate a new baby with something as equally sweet, right? To pull of this quirky gender reveal, you can either ask a photographer to reveal the big moment to you, as this couple did, capturing the reveal in pictures, or make it even more exciting with different colored gum and “burst the bubble,” so to speak!
Say it with glitter.

Let your belly do the talking.
“We had everyone over to the house,” said EverydayFamily community member Laura. “I had [written] girl on my belly in washable marker and then lifted up my shirt to show my belly. We also had cake after that said 'Welcome Alexandra.' Now, we are currently pregnant with our second. Not sure what we will do this time around!”
