My Pregnancy Week 5

Pregnancy Week 5

Even though this may be the first week a home pregnancy test confirms your pregnancy, it is incredible how many changes your little one has already gone through. By week five, the embryo, now securely nestled in your uterine wall, will begin dividing into three layers of cells: the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm.

Ectoderm
The top layer of cells is called the ectoderm. The neural tube, which will eventually form the spinal cord and the brain, will begin to develop this week. Skin, hair, nails, and sweat glands will all develop from this layer.

Mesoderm
The most impressive changes this week take place in the middle layer, called the mesoderm. Though your baby is only about the size of a grain of rice, the heart has divided into chambers and will begin pumping blood this week! Muscles, cartilage, bone, placenta, and the umbilical cord will also all develop from this layer.

Endoderm
Your baby’s lungs, intestines, thyroid, and pancreas will eventually develop from the endoderm.

This is my second baby. I have a daughter who will be 11 on October 8th. I was told I wouldn’t even be able to have another child. So this is a miracle in so many ways. The first time was pretty stressful and I am looking forward to getting to do it all over again. My daughter is so happy to be having a brother or sister.

This is my second child. I call this one my miracle baby. My daughter Kayla was 14 when she passed November of 2011. So to find out me and my new husband are pregnant is a new beginning spiritually and mentally. When it comes time to celebrate my daughters passing.. i will also be celebrating the new life growing inside of me. Im thankful

hey dawn, im 5 weeks and 3 days so i guess we can compare notes!!! dont be scared just relax and first pick a doctor and the doctor should be with a hospital.

  15. Avatar of Carissa Carissa says:

I would first and foremost find two hospital options you are comfortable with. Then find an OBGYN who serves at one of those hospitals. Remember that this is most important: you MUST be comfortable with this doctor. Otherwise, you will not have a good hospital experience. Besides, you will be seeing the OBGYN regularly, so why not like them? I honestly would choose the hospital closer to home; you do not want to be driving an hour when after you finally get to take your baby home!

I’m 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant and I am sooooooo scared and excited at the same time. This is the first baby for my husband and I. I love the fact that I can see pictures of how the baby is developing. But I do have a lot of questions. We haven’t told anyone yet, so I haven’t been able to ask my other friends who already or just had babies. We want to wait until week 12 but it’s driving me crazy that I can’t tell anyone. Soooo I have some questions for all of you. Does anyone know how to pick a hospital? Do you just call up and ask to take a tour of the maternity ward? I have no idea what to do. Do I choose a hospital that is close to work or close to home. I work 40 min from my house. Thanks for all of your help. :)

I am 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant, and I am so excited!!! I already love my little baby so much and cannot wait for each new stage of pregnancy, and the day I can hold him or her in my arms. I am thankful for Everyday Family because it gives me the chance to "talk" to other expecting parents, who are at the same stage as I am, and also has very useful information on this website. Thank you Everyday Family!!

I don’t know if you are a religious person or not, but I believe in the power of prayer. God knows His plans for you and the baby you are carrying, and He will not give you more than you can handle. Instead of worrying about it, give it to God…Let God take that worry from you and take charge of everything in your life. I know that sounds easier than it is, but every time you feel that fear or worry overcome you, Pray through it. Jesus is there and will take care of you and that baby. Everything happens for a reason, and though we may not know or understand what that reason is~He does. Good luck to you and your little one, you will be in my prayers. God Bless!!
