Photos to Take This Holiday Season

Author: Heather Montgomery

Photos are a great way to capture all the moments from this holiday season. Having your camera in hand may help you to capture the candid moments that will be cherished for years. Here are some ideas for capturing the joy of this holiday season:

Out in Nature

If you are lucky to have snow this holiday season, consider bundling up your child to take a picture with a snowman, or while your children make snow angels. If you live in a warmer climate, such as Florida, consider heading to the beach and making a sandman with your children.

Under the Tree

The classic holiday photo of your family in front of a Christmas tree can show how your children grow through the years. Consider taking photos as your family decorates your home, such as a picture of your child being held over an adult’s head to put the angel or star on the top of the tree.

Lighting the Kinara or Menorah

If you celebrate Kwanzaa or Hanukkah, take pictures of your children, with adult help, lighting the Kinara or Menorah.

Opening Gifts

If your celebration includes the opening of special gifts or offerings, make sure to capture these moments on film. The look of joy on a child’s face can be priceless.

Holiday Feast

There is nothing cuter than a few candid shots of food stuck on a babies face. If you have older children, take some pictures of them helping prepare the feast.

Some Photo Tips

Take pictures early, before the craziness of the celebration wears your family out. Instead of posed photos, consider capturing the candid moments when everyone is happy, but no one is saying “cheese.”

Just remember to enjoy the moments and keep your camera handy!
