okay so i am 26 weeks and 4 days pregnant, and recently my wisdom tooth has been giving me problems, it hasnt even grown in yet, all you can see is the surface of the top of the tooth way in the back and its been hurting alot lately. I took some tylenol, and made sure it was less than the reccomended amount but I do not want to keep taking medication, i'm so scared its going to hurt the baby. All i've tried is using hot or cold packs, and also drinking lots of tea, but tylenol helps the most which sux because i cant keep taking that. :(
its really bad pain sometimes and it caused me to also get a sore throat and an ear ache, im scared that this is going to some how effect the baby even though i dont think its a cold or infection its just something my tooth is causing. Any advice or tips, i hope that my tooth doesnt have to come out because i know that being pregnant i cant take any medicines they give you at the dentist. someone please help!
I had my top wisdom teethe removed about 2 years ago. If they are showing there is a chance that your dentist can just pull them and Tylenol would do for that pain. I also had my bottoms removed about 6 months ago...they had to be surgically removed because they were impacted. You can still go to the dentist and see what your options are. Taking Tylenol is not to bad I am 25 weeks pregnant and I was having problems with migraines, and taking Tylenol...when Tylenol failed to work they prescribed me something safe for baby and something that made me feel better. Talk with your doctor and then talk with your dentist they will make sure your baby stays safe!
In the beginning of my pregnancy I had a very bad infection in one of my top wisdom teeth. It hurt down my throat and in my ear. I could barely open my mouth wide enough to take a bite of sandwich it hurt so bad. Let's just say the dentist said it was "impressive". He told me to do warm salt water rinses several times a day (they gave me a syring to be able to get to the tooth and clean out any food that would get stuck back there). He also prescribed antibiotics for the infection and tylenol with codein for the pain. I did not take the tylenol because I was in the very early weeks of pregnancy but I did the salt water rinses and took the antibiotics because infections during pregnancy can be harmful to the baby. The infection did clear up after a few days but came back. I immediately started the salt water rinses and it cleared up again. Now I am 26 weeks along and I feel like I'm staring to get another infection. Hopefully the warm salt water will help again. Good luck! I hope this helps. These things can be very stressful when you're pregnant.
i hope both of our infections go away completely. i wish this is something that happened after pregnancy, its hard to deal with other problems when your pregnant, i worry so much that the medications will cause some kind of harm to the baby, but i always pray that everything will be okay. my dentist prescribed me amoxicilin, is that what you took?
hopefully my wisdom tooth wont have to come out, that would be really bad. :/
i am freaking out, i havent been to the dentist yet but i have been taking antibiotics, and im scared that something bad will happen to the baby like it might die because of the medication or because of the tooth infection. please if anyone knows anything about this type of thing let me know!
When I had my wisdom teeth taken out (all 4 at one time, and all of them surgically removed), I didn't take any of the pain meds because they made me sick. The pain from having them removed was nowhere near as bad as when they were trying to come in, though. I was one of the stubborn ones who waited until I absolutely had to have them taken out. The dentist will be able to provide you with an antibiotic that is safe for the baby. I'm pretty sure that most of them are safe to take, anyways. I recently had to take one that my OB subscribed for me. I highly recommend getting them removed and taking at least 3 days off afterwards just in case the pain is enough to keep you in bed. I slept for the first day and a half, almost, only drinking water and broth. Being pregnant, I'd suggest meal replacement shakes to keep your caloric intake up. To help with the pain, I alternated between hot and cold packs, but I'm sure Tylenol a couple times a day wouldn't do any damage.
