Yeah, I have it as well. We've been trying to get pregnant for a quite a while, but still no luck. We managed to get pregnant a little bit ago, but ended up having a miscarriage. That was not an easy thing to get through, but we're still here and trying again. Good luck!

HI! I have PCOS and my doctor perscribed me Clomid which is an ovulation medicine to cause me to ovulate more regularly. She also perscribed metformin because most women who have PCOS have it due to an inability to absorb insulin properly (which can later lead to diabetese). She put me on a diet and prenatal vitamins also. I have lost 13lbs in 2 months and I am ovulating again. Yea! Unfortunatly, the first round of fertility medicines didn't work, but we are trying our second round. The good thing about Clomid is that it is very affordable. It cost $18 without insurance (because fertility medication is not covered under most insurance plans). Also, metformin help prevent miscarriages so that is a major plus and its free with a perscription at any Marsh Supermarket or $4 at any Wal-Mart because it is a generic diabetese medicine. I do not have diabetese and metformin is perfectly safe to take while trying to convieve and while pregnant. Please go to your doctor and ask him/her about these medications and track your ovulation for the best results. Good luck! I'm right there with you.

If its any encouragement, I have PCOS and I'm very overweight, and we figured I wouldn't be able to get pregnant without help. We didn't worry much when the birth control ran out, especially since my sister-in-law has had trouble conceiving on purpose. We ended up getting pregnant on accident, and I'm curently 18 weeks, with no abnormalities or problems! We've been married for almost three years, but only played it 'risky' a few times here and there, almost always being on birth control or pulling out, so its definitely not impossible!
If you do have trouble, here's a bit more encouragement; my aunt has had very bad PCOS and has tried for several years to get pregnant. After losing weight she now has had two little ones a year apart, the latest one born this week! It'll happen for you, you just have to try your best not to stress about it. I've read that 95% of all women, nomatter what their obstacle, are able to conceive in four years. It may feel like forever, but it WILL happen.
Good luck ladies!!

My husband and I have been together for six years and this year we will be married for two years. I was diagnosed with PCOS for this will be three years now. I thought for sure I wasn't going to be able to have kids. We had gotten pregnant twice and lost both really early in the pregnancy. I thought that was it. But our lil Miracle happened this year on the 25 of Feburary. So yes you can get pregnant don't give up hope. It will happen.

It took a lot of hard work on my part, but it paid off. I have a 7 month old little boy. Get with your doctor and see what he recommends you do.

yes it is possible to get pregnant with PCOS. I was diagnosed in 2002. We tried for 13 years to get pregnant and saw numerous doctors who told me different things each time; yes, no, maybe with medications. I even had one doctor that told me it would be a mistake to get pregnant and my child would be born with severe handicaps. Moron!
Anyway, my son is 10 weeks old and healthy, i didn't use any fertility medications, because we had given up "trying" The big thing that worked for me was getting my A1c under strict control. My pregnancy was closely monitored with biweekly ob appointments, twice monthly endocrinology appointments, as well as specialized ultrasounds every month and fetal monitoring twice a week starting at 30 weeks. There are some risks, but defintely worth all of them. Goodluck to everyone trying.

Absolutely! I have PCOS, and I am currently 34 weeks pregnant. It was not easy, we tried on our own for 2 years and then decided to go to a fertility dr. I was told there that due to my weight (330) and due to my pcos that it would be difficult and could take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years to become pregnant with help. They started me on metformin 6 months prior to my going to the fertility dr, its supposed to help with pcos, but i do not think that it actually helped with the cysts. The new dr put me on Clomid, and BAM, I was pregnant 2 months later :) Now I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my little boy.

yes, you most definitely can. I have had PCOS from the age of 16 and have been obese in the past. However, i have managed to find my balance and the right diet for me (weight watchers mixed with sparkpeople if you are curious... Sparks is great because it's free and VERY precise, ww because it's easy to count on the go... they work wonders for me!) and went in just over a year from weighting 198 lbs for 5' 2.5" to 112 lbs which I have maintained for around 2 years. Met my now husband 6 years ago, got married in may last year... we didn't even TTC really after the wedding, just stopped pulling out... and exactly on my first wedding anniversary I found out I was pregnant... i couldn't believe it, it had been SO easy! now I'm nearly 18 weeks pregnant, very happy, no problems at all even if I'm over 35 and with loads of problems pre-pregnancy (mostly when I was obese, like a principle of diabetes and the likes). I'm very well followed by doctors and hopefully fingers crossed on the 24th of August I'll have my anatomy scan which will tell me that my baby is absolutely healthy (touch wood fingers crossed!!!!!!). didn't even have morning sickness...
So don't feel discouraged relax and you'll see it will happen. i must say though that losing weight and keeping healthy and fit have been great help for me, so if by any chance you need to lose weight, you better start now. As I said, I highly recommend Sparkpeople, which is free and a great tool and has also a pregnancy section!
