A great place to start is looking at the skills or talents that you have and researching jobs related to those skills. For example, if you are very organized and detail oriented, you might be able to find a job working for an office on secretarial filing and organization that can be done via computer. Or, if you are very social and comfortable with sales, there are many companies with direct sales that can be a good fit for moms, combining socializing and business.
It's challenging - in reality I think there are many more people who would like to work from home than there are jobs, but a little research and creative thinking can get you started. Good luck!
I work at home for a direct sales company. But the way we structure it now, it is more like customer service than selling. Only interested people contact you and we have scripts to use to know exactly what to say. I have replaced my part-time income and I am home full time since July.
If you are interested you can contact me at schout@att.net. I will send you some information and schedule a call to see if it is right for you.
There definitely are some options for WAHM's. It depends on what kind of experience you have but some jobs that are available are -- Social media assistant/ social media manager, Freelance Writer, Affiliate marketer,Medical transcriptionist, or a photographer. I've also seen a lot of women make money from their blogs. If you have enough of a following company's will start offering to pay you to advertise for them, or even send you products and have you do a review. There's plently of options out there. Hope this was helpful! :)
I have worked on and off from home for over a decade. I run an ebay store which is my main source of income but takes years of networking and research to sell INVENTORY not just the stuff from around your house. Have to have places to get inventory, know all my shipping options, write, photograph, etc.
I supplment this sometimes with freelance writing on certain websites, flipping items on Craigslist, having an Amazon store, and nannying once in awhile. There are a lot of ways to work from home and some take an investment and some do not. You have to figure out how much you have to make monthly to make it count first and foremost.
I work from home using the websites - ELance.com and ODesk.com. I do Transcription and Data Entry. I've only been working on these, going on 9 months now. I don't make enough yet to totally and completely replace our family income. But it helps suppliment what we get each month. I know that if I stick with it, one day I believe that my work on these sites with what I do will bring in enough income to pay our bills and maybe some left over for some extra stuff.
I really, really enjoy what I do because it's different each day. Each project and each client is unique and different. I pick and choose what I feel like doing each day. I manage my time each day so I have time to get work in and get paid. Then I can put the computer up for a while and do house work, or pick the kids up after school and run them to their activities. Then after supper work a little more before heading to bed.
I wish I had found these sights years ago, I would be established by now and I would have a family and a career by now. Oh, well I'm here now, and I'm going to continue to work.
I work from home selling eBay also but I am very new to it and Im not running a store or anything yet. Im still learning and I have a selling limit since I am so new. I enjoy it so far. It could be a huge amount of work though say if I was doing it for an actual job.
My partner makes enough money for us to be comfortable but I like to contribute here and there will money. Not so much money but I will sell some clothes or toys on eBay then take the money and buy clothes and toys that are age appropriate for my kids. So we are not depending on my money to live. If I did it like for a real income I think it would be a ton of work. The listings and so MANY rules you have to know. I also do Avon for extra money.
