Question: Diaper changing

I have a baby who loves to roll around and grab his diaper while I change him. I don't have a changing table or dresser to change him on, I just use the bed. Is there something I can do to stop him from kicking and rolling while he is being changed?

I hold his feet but they slip out of my hands and I try to distract him by making faces and trying to get him to laugh, but he tries to grab the clean (or dirty) diaper and wipes. I keep them out of his reach but he still tries to roll over. Sometimes when he has a messy diaper, I ask a family member to hold on to him too so he doesn't get any dirtier.

What i do is that I lay my son down and I sit down too & put my legs under his shoulders..That usually works.My mom did that with me and my sister too. Let me know how this works for you.

I apologize - I saw your post and immediately started laughing! My 11-month-old son does this constantly. My husband usually just fights him, wrestles him to the ground in a futile attempt to change the diaper until I come in and take over. The answer is so simple - give him something (anything!) to hold onto. He'll play with whatever it is and you just move quickly to get him changed. There will be days it's doesn't work, but for the most part, he's distracted and happy with even a remote or a bottle to hold. Keep a couple of toys or safe objects near where you change him so it's easy to reach over and hand something to him. I usually place it on his chest or his face so that he has to move it to see me, it helps when he starts to fuss right away.

Ok so I tried both. Using my leg keeps him from rolling, but then I can't lift his butt, lol. Sometimes it works when I give him something to play with.

My son is 5 months and the new wonderful game for him is as soon as i put the clean diaper in place but before i can get it velcroed on him he pushes off my leg, bed, couch anything he can and tries to launch him self away. I think it is just part of the learning/growing process. To them it is a wonderful game, granted to us it can be frustrating and troublesome. There isn't really much you can do to stop it, except play along with them. If you are worried about him falling, the best thing to do would be to start changing him on the floor.
