What are your thoughts on people who don't decide to vaccinate?

I am by no means trying to single out people in the community. I am just worried for a girl who thinks that by not vaccinating her daughter she is doing the right thing by her. I do not think she has not fully investigated the risks and benefits of immunizations. I think all she has is what she has heard through her friends and rumors online. She is under the impression that all vaccines are bad. I feel like she isn't making the safest choice as she lives in a heavily populated part of Washington and by not vaccinating at all, her daughter is at SUCH a high risk for contracting Pertussis and other super serious dieases. I am worried for her daughter, but don't know how to talk to her about it. We aren't on good terms right now because of an argument about something unrelated, but I would really like to ask her why she is doing this to her child. Please tell me your thoughts. Let me know if I am in the right, let me know what you think I should do. Should I butt out, this is her baby and therefore her decision? Or should I try my hardest to make sure she is makng an educated decision for her baby's well being? Not trying to be a busy body mommy, but I love the little girl like family and want what is best for her. PLEASE REPLY!!! :D thanks.

I think the best thing to do is ask if she is making her decision based on scarey rumors, or indepth research, and let her know that for the baby's sake, that you hope she's doing alot of research on the issue, for the baby's best interest. maybe also provide trusted links and encourage additional investigation into the pro's and con's of vaccines...like these below.

Personally, I've had my baby vaccinated with some of the major vaccines that have been around for decades, like polio, DTaP, Hep A&B, and MMR. I do not, however, trust the chicken pox vaccine because it is very new...I had the chicken pox when i was 6 and I was fine...and I also dont trust the flu vaccine because both times in my life that I got the flu shot, I ended up in the ER, with major flu symptoms and severe dehydration.

In the end, its always going to be the parents decision...but its best to make any decisions based on research and facts, rather than fears and scary rumors.

I would advise that you do some real research on vaccines before advising anybody to have their baby vaccinated. Research does not mean reading the comforting misinformation presented on pro-vaccine sites like baby center and especially the CDC site. Although, while surfing the CDC site be sure and check the ingredients listed there. I assure you the list of ingredients is quite frightening. I could get into why I choose not to vaccinate my baby, but that's not what you asked. More than likely your friend has spent many hours reading up on vaccine safety (or lack thereof) and has put forth lots of effort and thought into sorting through all of the misleading and purely unscientific information out there. If anything, I would take this opportunity to listen to what your friend has researched and come to understand about vaccines. Remember, you can nurse your baby through an illness but you cannot reverse a vaccine injury.
