Question: What to do in order for breast milk to dry up?
I have breastfeed my son and I want to stop when he turns 6 or 7 months. I just don't know what to do in order for my breast milk to dry up. Some days when they fill up they just get very uncomfortable that I'm wondering how long would I need to feel like that in order for my breast to go back to normal. And will they go back to my normal size? Does any one know? Thank you
Re: What to do in order for breast milk to dry up?
It's going to take at least a few days. The doctor and nurses told me to wear tight bras to help with drying up. The more your nipples are stimulated the more likely you are to keep producing so tight bras help. Avoid direct contact with the shower stream. Keep your back towards the stream. I've heard of some doctors prescribing medications to help dry milk up. As far as your breasts going back to normal size, that may not happen. Mine stayed a little bigger than my original size.

Re: What to do in order for breast milk to dry up?
I breastfed my son until he was 14 months old. I was also wondering, at that time, how I would get my milk to dry up. This is what I did and it worked great! My son would nurse on each side about 10 minutes or so, normally. I started at 10 minutes a side and then each night I went down a minute. By the time we got to 1 minute a side he didn't even mind not nursing any more. I never got engorged or had any pain or leaking after that. I'm not sure if this will help you, but it worked great for me. Good luck to you!

I would first like to say good job going this long. Also if your ready to be done make sure your little one is also. I have 5, 3, 1, year old n pregnant again. God made them for milking, feeding our precious seeds. I would skip every other feeding n then 2, then 3.... It takes time but they eventually dry up. It's better than just stopping, I did with my first n didn't move for 2 whole days. They got ginormous.!!
