Question: 8 weeks pregnant and one side hurts to breastfeed.. Advise?
My youngest is 20 months now, and we have been nursing strong. He wasn't taking to food (even though I've been trying a while! Finally in this last month he has eaten more) He still night nurses (about 2 to 4 times a night, crazy I know).
I am 8 weeks pregnant now.
Nursing is starting to really hurt only on my left nipple. It's just getting more painful. Has anyone else felt this way?
Re: 8 weeks pregnant and one side hurts to breastfeed.. Advise?
My first actually self-weaned early in my pregnancy. I swear, she would look at me when she began to nurse with this face like "What's up with this milk?" I think something in my hormones changed things and she didn't like it.
Since you're having pain - and he is old enough to understand - maybe you can talk to him about it. Gently tell him that it is hurting mama on that side and he needs to be extra gentle. Sometimes just the awareness will help him adjust his nursing on that side to alleviate the discomfort. Bonus? He's learning empathy!
Good luck! And congrats!
