You Named Your Baby What?

Saturday, October 29, 2011 by Heather Montgomery from Celebrity Stilettos and Sippy Cups

Have you ever scratched your head at the name a celebrity has chosen for their bundle of joy? I know I sure have.  It seems that the trend of the past few years is one-upping other celebrities with crazy name choices. Do you think this trend is because Hollywood stars are “artists” or because an odd baby name will get them into the papers? Lets explore some of the more interesting names of the past few years.

Apple, who is the daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. I am sure she is cute enough to eat!

Audio Science, this interesting name was given to the son of Shannyn Sossamon and Dallas Clayton.

Coco, the daughter of Courteney Cox and actor David Arquette. This name makes me laugh because Coco is the name my sister-in-law and her children call number 2, after the Portuguese meaning of the word.

Diva Muffin, daughter of Frank and Gail Zappa. Wonder how that little girl will turn out? They also have another daughter named Moon Unit.

Pilot Inspektor, son of Jason Lee and Beth Riesgraf. Wow, is all I have to say.

Moxie CrimeFighter, child of Penn Jillette and wife Emily. This little girl is going to be a superhero.

Petal Rainbow Blossom, daughter of Jamie Oliver and wife Juliette. They have another daughter named Poppy Honey.

Those are the oddest of the hundreds of babies born to celebrities in the past few years.

Sometimes a celebrity baby's name isn’t odd but makes you annoyed anyway. I had a name for my first boy picked out for as long as I could remember. My dad’s middle name is Preston, and I was dead set on using it as my child’s name.  When I was trying to get pregnant in September of 2005, I actually cried when Britney Spears announced the name of her baby boy Sean Preston. Not only because I thought she was crazy, but because now my favorite name was out in the open, and I thought it was a rare name up until then.

What are some of your favorite odd celebrity names?

In other celebrity baby news:

Actress Emily Deschanel and husband David Hornsby welcomed their first baby boy, Henry.

Reports are surfacing that Jessica Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson are expecting baby number 1 in the spring.

January Jones welcomed a baby boy named Xander.
