Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Split

It is the news that was probably not shocking to most people; Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing. According to reports, Katie filed the papers and Tom was surprised at the filing. The couple has one child, Suri, who is 6 years old. Katie’s team said this in a statement, "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest." Tom’s representative adds, "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy."
Now I don’t think there was a person who really thought that the two of them married for love. The wedding was sudden and fans of Holmes saw her quickly change from a bubbly actress to a mere robot overnight. Tom has been plagued with rumors of his sexuality for years and many questioned the validity of the marriage. I am not sure I would take it that far, but their union always seemed very odd to me.
Add to that the fact that Suri seems like a child who is babied and who was seen with a bottle well past her fourth birthday, there is something that strikes me as seriously odd about this family. I hate to say that I am happy for a divorce, I do feel sadness for Suri and the turmoil this will cause her, but getting away from Tom and his issues is probably the best thing that could happen to Katie.
