Snooki Takes Back Her Thoughts on Breastfeeding

Earlier this summer Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi suggested breastfeeding was not something she was interested in, saying, “It just looks so painful and gross … It’s kind of like you’re a cow, and you just milk it?” However, within days of giving birth to her baby boy, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle, she changed her tune.

She tweeted, “I love nursing my little man!” in response to a follower’s question about whether she was breastfeeding. She later followed that Tweet with “#BreastPump instead of #FistPump”. I am glad that Snooki decided to breastfeed her baby boy, or at least try it out.

I understand that some women are uncomfortable about or not at all interested in breastfeeding, and that is alright. I truly think the reason I was successful at breastfeeding was that not doing it was never even an option for me. I grew up knowing I was breastfed, watched other women in my circle breastfeed, and was not grossed out or apprehensive about the process at all.

Snooki was not the only one who gave birth this week though.

Possibly the most exciting arrival was that of Bill and Giuliana Rancic. They welcomed a baby boy, Edward Duke Rancic, via a gestational surrogate.

Graham Elliot and wife Allie welcomed son Jedediah Lindsay Bowles on Saturday, Aug. 25

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt recently welcomed their son Jack.

And finally, Finn Davey McDermott was born Thursday, Aug. 30 to Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott.

Did having a baby change your opinion on breastfeeding?

i breastfeed my baby girl since she was born, sometimes it was hard especially in the beginning because it was painful and sometimes she wouldn’t take it, but I can honestly say it wast the best effort I would’ve ever done because my baby is not overweight, hardly become sick her immune system was strong, I am so glad I didn’t give up on her, she deserves to be healthy oh and her teeth now are well taken care off. she sometimes now be sucking lol just for fun… I miss those moments. Oh can I mention it was a plus because she would sleep through all the night till the morning.

I gave it my best shot but unfortunately had a latching problem followed by an infection. I wish I couldve made it longer than 4 days but I knew it was for the best! I do want to try again if I have another child!

Those women who think like that have immature frame of mind. I have two young sisters who feel its "disgusting" and that’s so ignorant. I have a sis in law who thought nursing would feel good as when sexually arouse via breast fondling….so ignorant there too! Some women don’t do it for selfish reasons like wanting to diet/lose weight but lack of knowledgev breastfeeding sheds those pounds! Anywho….up to them ultimately!

  6. I don’t know how I feel about breastfeeding. I think I will know what is right when the time comes.

I also grew up watching my mother nurse my kid siblings, and learned she nursed all 7 of us. I never thought twice about nursing vs. Formula when I was pregnant with my first. When I weened him at 6 months because I cojldnt keep my milk up working I hated buying formula, it was expensive, and frankly making bottles was time consuming, and not to mention bottle washing was terribly annoying. I think breastfeeding though hard at first, is the easiest, healthiest route for both mom and baby.

Who cares what Snooki is up to? She’s made only disgusting statements about her pregnancy and i don’t think anyone should encourage her by following up on her bimbo statements

Nice to know she changed her mind, some women do no matter how "wierd" they are about it. I had a lot of head butting with my friends comments on nursing when I had my first two children (I was 16 when I had Nate, then 17 when I had Kath so the mindset of my friends was teenage girls :/ ). It’s funny because now that we are all almost thirty, and they are starting their families, a lot of them nurse after comments 11 yrs. ago like "I couldn’t be a cow" or, "Isn’t it sorta sexual…it’s your boob". I used to get soooo mad, but I can now look back on it and laugh.
